Now Rakhi Sawant is nautanki Shanno

Can you guess of whom we are talking about? Well its non other than controversial queen Rakhi Sawant. The actress is essaying a good role in the up coming flick Dil Bole Hadippa.

“I portray the character of Shanno who is a big nautanki. She is bindaas and a different but strong girl. I had a great time shooting with Rani and Shahid in the film. There is also a dance sequence where Rani flirts with me in a song,” says Rakhi.

There is Sherlin too in the movie so was there any competitive environment for you? “My competition is with the biggies of the industry like Ash, Kareena and Rani Mukherjee not with small time actress,” she stated in an interview with an entertainment channel.

You have done an item song too in the film. “Yes it was with Rani as I said earlier and we had a gala time while shooting it,” she concludes.

With her upcoming film Dil Bole Hadippa soon to release, Ms Sawant is flying high

That's not me nude: Rakhi

That's not me nude: Rakhi

There are Rakhi Sawant's nude pics, on the web, but it looks like the post-swayamvar Rakhi’s not having any of it. In a recent interview, she had expressed her fears, saying, “On the internet, people have morphed my pictures onto naked bodies.

Elesh (who won Rakhi Ka Swayamvar) is broad minded but I don’t know if he’ll be able to deal with all this.”

It looks like Rakhi’s worst fears have come true - these pictures of her, in which she’s wearing almost nothing, are all over the net. Rakhi herself could not be contacted, but her manager did respond. “What are you saying?” asked Rakhi’s manager, Manoj Karnavar. “I’ve been working with Rakhi for the past six years and there have been no such cases. We’ve not done any shoot for this men’s magazine, as the news reports suggest,” he added.

But hasn’t Rakhi herself said that there may be such pictures of her on the net? “Yes, morphed pics are a possibility,” he said.

Rakhi Sawant too sexy for her fiancé

Rakhi Sawant too sexy for her fiancé

The drama queen comes up with another excuse to not marry

The drama is not over yet. She was the modern-day princess choosing her groom on national television, but after taking the decision her mind is clouded by serious doubts. Rakhi Sawant is extremely confused if she wants to tie the knot with her man Elesh Parujanwala or not.

The hot babe seems to be coming up with one bahanadesi item girl. The next reason - he is not financially independent and can’t even earn a “proper living”.

Now, the lady claims that Elesh can’t cope with her sexy image. The hot item girl was quoted as saying, “On the internet they’ve morphed my face on naked bodies. Would Elesh be able to tolerate it?” She is famous for her sexy tag and every one knows about it, but Rakhi is unsure about Elesh’s reaction to her sizzling pictures available on net.

Rakhi doesn’t even want Elesh to be known as Rakhi Sawant’s husband just like her previous beau Abhishek Awasthi, who was better known as Rakhi Sawant’s boyfriend. One thing about which Rakhi is dead sure is that she doesn’t want another hen-pecked lover like Abhishek in her life. Elesh, who is a Toronto-based businessman and doesn’t have a house in Mumbai has to first earn a decent living and then only she will marry him. Until then, she will wait and may be find out further reasons not to marry him.

The couple is going to participate in another reality show ‘Pati, Patni Aur Woh’ that starts next month.

Elesh shouldn't be known as my husband: Rakhi Sawant

Elesh shouldn't be known as my husband: Rakhi Sawant

They got engaged amid much fanfare on national television but item girl Rakhi Sawant is worried about her Toronto-based fiance Elesh Parujanwala.

She is worried about him accepting her sexy image, his financial independence and, above all, she doesn't want him to be just known as "Rakhi Sawant's husband".

"Will Elesh be able to support me financially? I don't want him to be known as Rakhi Sawant's husband. I need time.

"I agree Elesh is educated and he comes from a wealthy family. But all of it belongs to his father. He has nothing of his own in Mumbai, not even a home. He needs time to settle down," Rakhi, who selected Elesh through NDTV Imagine's reality show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, told IANS in an exclusive interview.

She is also concerned about Elesh being comfortable with her sexy image.

"People are spreading dirty rumours about me. On the Internet they've morphed my face on naked bodies. Would Elesh be able to tolerate it?" asked Rakhi.

She is also disgusted by singer Mika's attempts to gain mileage out of her name.

"I'm really tired of people using my name. I don't want to give such people importance. I've learnt the hard way how to be dignified. Jesus has taught me to be calm. My good days are just beginning."

Rakhi says she'll marry Elesh only when he becomes economically self-sufficient.

"I don't want him to be another Abhishek Awasthi (her ex-boyfriend) in my life. Yes, we're engaged. I like him a lot. But how can I hand over my life to someone who isn't earning a proper living?

"That's why we're going on another reality show to see whether we're really as compatible as we seemed on Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. I didn't get enough time with him on that show. You and I saw his best face. Now I want to see the real Elesh."

Her new show Pati Patni Aur Woh, which is likely to be aired next month on NDTV Imagine, is about parenting.

"I want to marry a man who can support me. In India, wives are supposed to be looked after by husbands, not vice versa. I don't want him to come and stay in my house. I want to live in his house. I will wait for him to afford a house.

"I know Elesh is a decent guy. But is that enough? He has to be financially independent. He needed a place and a face to latch on to; that's why he came on the show. Abhishek was so decent. But he was known as Rakhi's boyfriend."

Rakhi's new show is about parenting, but kids give her a headache.

"I've a migraine problem. When a child cries, I get a severe headache. I don't know how I'll manage for a month with a stranger's child.

"On top of that I've to cook on the show. I can't cook to save my life. I don't know how I'll manage. I can't even use make-up. Can you imagine Rakhi Sawant without makeup?" she said.

Asked how she'll cope when she has her own kids, Rakhi replied: "Apna bachcha to har koi paal leta hai...jaanwar bhi. I don't know how I'll cope. I think I'm going to lose my cool completely. So far people have only seen the good Rakhi Sawant. Now they'll see the real me."

Speaking about ex-boyfriend Abhishek, she said: "I still consider him my good friend. I hope and pray he finds a good girl. If ever in life he needs me, I'll always be there.
"If he needs me to be a dance partner in a reality show I'll gladly do the needful. He has supported me a lot. I'll always be thankful to him for getting my mother out of my life. That's one good deed he did. If Abhishek hadn't been there, I'd have not had the courage to break away from my family. I'd have been wallowing in mud."

Mika reveals the truth behind Rakhi kiss

Mika reveals the truth behind Rakhi kiss

Mika singh , the popular singer, is one of the Three new entrants on Sony Entertainment Television’s Iss jungle Se Mujhe Bachao. While Rakhi is trying to find herself a suitor in Mumbai, Mika, after spending only one day in the jungle was Ready to reveal his deep dark secrets. Not only that, Mika also probed Aakash on his relationship with Farah Khan but our bad boy chose to keep mum, and instead asked him about his infamous kiss-sa with Rakhi.

Mika started with his side of the story and here’s what it was! Mika had thrown a birthday bash, where he had actually invited Rakhi's boyfriend. But Rakhi tagged along with her boyfriend and was being overfriendly with Mika. So much so that she smacked on the birthday boy's face in front of his bodyguards. Mika didn't appreciate this behavior and Wanted to teach Rakhi a lesson. That is when an angry Mika kissed Rakhi… and she left the party, only to return after 2 hours with a whole bunch of people to fight… the issue was stretched to such an extent that it reached the court. Mika wanted to settle it but Rakhi was in no mood to do so. And the rest as we all know is history. Aakash says that Mika’s kiss made Rakhi popular, otherwise who knew her before this.

Of course we all know what the kiss did to her… that’s why her latest show had one of the suitors repeat history and kiss her several times. Now Rakhi could not take him to court, so she got him eliminated instead. We are sure Ms Rakhi Parujanwala will not appreciate this confession at all!

Rakhi goes to a reality show about parenting... but kids give her a headache! And, she asks, “Will Elesh be able to tolerate my morphed naked pics on the Net?"

Rakhi Sawant goes into her second reality show from Wednesday. It’s a show about parenting with Rakhi and Elesh playing mother and father.

There’s one hitch. Babies give Rakhi a headache. “I’ve a migraine problem. When a child cries I get a severe headache . I don’t know how I’ll manage for a month with a stranger’s child. On top of that I’ve to cook on the show. I can’t cook to save my life.”

Ask her how she will cope when she has her own kids and Rakhi retorts, “Apna bachcha to har koi paal leta hai, jaanwar bhi. I don’t know how I’ll cope. I think I’m going to lose my cool completely. So far people have only seen the good Rakhi Sawant. Now they’ll see the real me. Elesh returned from his sister's wedding on Tuesday night. We enter the show from Wednesday. I don’t know how I’ll manage. This show is already giving me a headache. I can’t even use makeup. Can you imagine Rakhi Sawant without makeup?”

Rakhi was supposed to visit her reality-show fiancé Elesh’s home -town in Toronto. “But I couldn’t get a visa from the US to Canada. I had to really get pushed around for my US visa. It was impossible to get a visa from the US to Canada. Elesh’s family was very keen to have me over. They came for my Swayamvar all the way to Mumbai. And I couldn’t for for them. But no problem. As soon as my new reality show Pati Patni Aur Woh is over I’ll visit his family in Toronto with Elesh.”

Rakhi says she’ll marry Elesh only when he becomes economically self sufficient. “It’s my life and a decision like marriage should be left to me only. Elesh may be the best person in the world. But he may not be be the best person for me.I don’t want him to be another Abhishek Awasthi in my life. Yes,we’re engaged. I like him a lot. But how can I hand over my life to someone who isn’t earning a proper living? That’s why we’re going on another reality show to see whether we’re really as compatible as we seemed on Rakhi Ka Swayamvar.I didn’t get enough time on him on that show. You and I saw his best face. Now I want to see the real Elesh.I want to marry a man who can support me. When we go to a restaurant he should pay the bill, not me. In India wives are supposed to be looked after by husbands, not vice versa. He has seen how I live. I don’t want him to come and stay in my house I want to live in his house. I will wait for him to afford a house.I will wait.”

Rakhi is specially worried about Elesh accepting her sexy image. “On the internet they’ve morphed my face on naked bodies. Would Elesh be able to tolerate it? He’s broad-minded, yes. But God knows what he’d be like after marriage.”

She bursts into tears. “Mere dil mein bahut taqleef hai. Will Elesh be able to support me financially? I don’t want him to be known as Rakhi Sawant’s husband. Mujhe waqt chahiye. I feel I’m stuck in a stormy ocean.I can’t climb the cross just to please public. I agree Elesh is educated and he comes from a wealthy family. But all of it belongs to his father. He has nothing of his own in Mumbai, not even a home. He needs time to settle down. In the meanwhile people are spreading dirty rumours about me. Ek insaan kitna bardaasht kare?”

Rakhi is disgusted by singer Mika’s attempts to make mileage out of her name. “I’m really tired of people using my name. I don’t want to give such people more importance. I’ve learnt the hard way how to be dignified.Jesus has taught me to be calm. My good days are just beginning. Let me remind these publicity seekers that short cuts don’t get you anywhere.”

Rakhi says she’s going through a lot of turmoil. “They are writing all kinds of things making up all kinds of quotes about Elesh on my behalf. They’re all taking advantage of me. I’m being used for publicity by so many people. Why are people doing these things with me? Jesus knows how much I’m suffering.”

Speaking on her former boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi Rakhi says, “I still consider him my good friend. I hope and pray he finds a good girl to marry. If ever in life he needs me I’ll always be there. If needs me to be a dance partner in a reality show I’ll gladly do the needful. He has supported me a lot. I’ll always be thankful to him for getting my mother out of my life. That’s one good deed he did. If Abhishek hadn’t been there I’d have not had the courage to break away from my family. I’d have been wallowing in mud. Aaj Rakhi Swant nahin hoti. I’d have been something else. I can’t even say what I’d have been.”

Rakhi thinks her good days have started. “I know Elesh is a decent guy. But is that enough? He has be financially independent. He needed a place and a face to latch on to, that’s why he came on the show. Abhishek Awasthi was so decent. But he was know as Rakhi’s boyfriend.”

Rakhi Sawant Nurturing A Baby: Nothing Can Be More Disastrous

Rakhi Sawant Nurturing A Baby: Nothing Can Be More Disastrous

After NRI Businessman Elesh Parujanwala and item girl Rakhi Sawant got engaged in the famous and TRP winning series Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, we have been hearing Rakhi go on and on with her complaints about her beau.

Rakhi is singular in her approach towards marriage and such related aspects. She clearly disowns now that she ever wished to marry Elesh as he is still financially dependent on his family and is much more educated than her.

But the new show Pati Patni aur woh insisted on getting the pair in the show. The show where Rakhi and Elesh have to do things like normal couples, like settling down, raising children and caring for elders.

But knowing Rakhi, these things seem impossible. She screams “I’ve a migraine problem. When a child cries, I get a severe headache. I don’t know how I’ll manage for a month with a stranger’s child. On top of that I’ve to cook on the show. I can’t cook to save my life”.

Well, Rakhi you can do anything to get TRP, nothing stopping you.

Elesh doesn't earn enough for Rakhi

Elesh doesn't earn enough for Rakhi

Rakhi Sawant may have got engaged to Elesh Parujanwala on Rakhi Ka Swyamvar but it seems she is on no mood. Now as the pair shoots for their second reality show
Pati Patni Aur Woh, Rakhi has admitted that babies and household chores doesn't interest her at all. Television's drama queen has said that she will marry Elesh only when she is financially independent. She already seems to be giving enough hint that she won't tie the knot with Elesh.

Talking about her new show Rakhi added that the she has migraine and the children give her headache when they cry and she hates the cooking she is being asked to do on the show. In a statement which only a Rakhi Sawant can make she said even animals manage their own offspring but to bear somebody else's child is not just her cup of tea. Rakhi also added that she wasn't sure how long she would be able to stick to the demanding format of the show.

On question of her marriage with Elesh she said it her life and should be left to her. Even if he is the best man in the world she might not like him. She said she can't marry Elesh as he wasn't earning enough to marry her. She said as an Indian woman she would like to be looked after by her husband and not support him. She added that she doesn't want Elesh to come to her house but would want him to buy a house for her.

Well isn't it now obvious what Rakhi is is no mood to marry Elesh after the highly publicised and dramatised swyamvar!

Elesh can't support me: Rakhi

Elesh can't support me: Rakhi

Rakhi Sawant may have gone through the entire pre-shaadi sham by playing the head-to-toe covered, soft-spoken coy Indian bride in Rakhi Ka Swayamvar but she clearly couldn’t keep up with the bhartiya naari image for long.

Now, as the shooting of her second reality show based on parenting starts today with Rakhi and her ‘fiancé’ Elesh Parujanwala playing mother and father respectively, the vociferous Rakhi startlingly admits that babies and household chores bore her to death. Also, she says she will marry Elesh only when he becomes financially self-sufficient.

“I’ve a migraine problem. When a child cries, I get a severe headache. I don’t know how I’ll manage for a month with a stranger’s child. On top of that I’ve to cook on the show. I can’t cook to save my life,” she says.

Ask her how she will cope when she has her own kids and Rakhi replies, “Apna bachcha to har koi paal leta hai, jaanwar bhi. I don’t know how I’ll cope. I think I’m going to lose my cool completely. So far people have only seen the good Rakhi Sawant. Now they’ll see the real me. I can’t even use makeup. Can you imagine Rakhi Sawant without makeup?”

She quickly says that she’ll marry Elesh only when he becomes economically self sufficient. “It’s my life and a decision like marriage should be left to me only. Elesh may be the best person in the world but he may not be the best person for me. I don’t want him to be another Abhishek Awasthi in my life. Yes, we’re engaged. I like him a lot. But how can I hand over my life to someone who isn’t earning a proper living? That’s why we’re going on another reality show to see whether we’re really as compatible as we seemed on Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. I didn’t get enough time with him on that show. You and I saw his best face. Now I want to see the real Elesh. I want to marry a man who can support me. When we go to a restaurant he should pay the bill, not me. In India, wives are supposed to be looked after by husbands, not vice versa. He has seen how I live. I don’t want him to come and stay in my house I want to live in his house. I will wait for him to afford a house,” she adds.

In her typical drama queen mode, she bursts into tears and says, “Mere dil mein bahut taqleef hai. Will Elesh be able to support me financially? I don’t want him to be known as Rakhi Sawant’s husband. Mujhe waqt chahiye. I feel I’m stuck in a stormy ocean. I can’t climb the cross just to please the public. He has nothing of his own in Mumbai, not even a home. He needs time to settle down. In the meanwhile people are spreading dirty rumours about me. Ek insaan kitna bardaasht kare?”

Coming back to what she calls the beginning of her good days, Rakhi adds, “I know Elesh is a decent guy. But is that enough? Abhishek Awasthi was so decent but he was always known as Rakhi’s boyfriend.”

Rakhi reportedly wants elesh to do better in Mumbai

Rakhi reportedly wants elesh to do better in Mumbai

Just days after getting engaged to Toronto-based businessman Elesh Parujanwala, Rakhi Sawant has apparently said that she will back out of marriage if Elesh does not settle down financially in Mumbai in the next couple of years.

Rakhi had chosen Elesh through her reality show “Rakhi Ka Swayamvar”, leaving aside the other 15 candidates. But now she does not seem to be content with this guy. She has said that at the moment Elesh does not have anything except his education with him. It seems that his dad has a lot of money but that does not ensure that her needs would be taken care of by them.

Elesh is presently staying in a rented flat in a suburb in Mumbai along with his business partner. Rakhi has made it clear that she will not stay in a rented flat and reportedly wants Elesh to own at least a three-bedroom apartment in Mumbai.

Rakhi is also said to be disappointed with the fact that Elesh is not as rich as he projected himself to be. He sometimes survives only on a vada-paav.

Nevertheless, she is participating in another reality show along with Elesh. This, she said, will help her to understand Elesh better.

Would Rakhi go for another Swayamvar?

Would Rakhi go for another Swayamvar?

Sambhavna has exhibited displeasure over Rakhi and her ill-format. Sambhavna said, “Rakhi wants people to believe that she is a coy, shy woman. But people in the industry very well know what kind of a person she is. We have worked together and I have seen her closely enough to know her real character.”

She also denied the invitation to Rakhi's Swayamwar saying that she doesn't want to be a part of her ‘nautanki'.

Elesh is not perfect for Rakhi Sawant

Elesh is not perfect for Rakhi Sawant

Item girl Rakhi Sawant, who selected Elesh Parujanwala as her life partner through a TV reality show, is not serious about marriage yet. Rakhi said that she found herself unable to connect with Elesh.

Is it true Rakhi? Well, the statement raises questions on 'Rakhi Ka Swaymvar' itself. It seems that the TV reality show was far away from any realty.

Rakhi says, "I barely know Elesh. I just met him twice in the show. How can I say that he is the right choice for me?"

She further says, "Elesh had string of affairs in the past and none of them lasted more than a year. I have also a broken relationship and it still hurts. I can't afford anymore."

"In fact, Elesh has less interest in a girl. His taste changes very quickly."

At the same time, she admits that Elesh loves her but she needs some time to decide.

Don't worry Rakhi. Take your time and you may plan second edition of 'Rakhi Ka Swyamvar'.

Rakhi Sawant: I love him, I love him not

Rakhi Sawant: I love him, I love him not

Well life is certainly a rollercoaster for Rakhi Sawant and we folks are along for the ride, just buckle up as it may get bumpy!

So at first, Rakhi was looking for love and a husband in her reality TV show ‘Rakhi ka Swayamvar’, then she found love and was besotted with her Toronto based beau Elesh Parujanwala, whom she planned to marry, with all of us watching on the small screen of course.

Isn’t that what fairy tales are made of?

Not in this case, earlier this week it was widely reported that Rakhi wasn’t sure about Elesh anymore, that she felt that they were too different, that she didn’t trust him and that they had only met twice since she placed the garland around his neck.

So it’s off? Do keep up! This story has even more twists as now Rakhi is mad as hell, shocked by those very reports and insisting that Elesh and her are simply made for each other.

“All this is a whole load of rubbish. Elesh and I are extremely happy and in love with each other,” stated Rakhi., she went on to say “In fact, I met his entire family and will be going to Canada and be with him and his family soon. I definitely see a future with him.”

Addressing reports that she still holds a torch for her ex-boyfriend, Abihshek, well Rakhi blew that flame out emphatically, saying “I am totally over Abhishek.”

As for the future, Rakhi is playing her cards close to her chest which is hardly surprising since both her and Elesh are planning to do another reality show together.

I guess you will just have to keep watching as things change so fast! It’s about ratings sorry love after all!

Now, Rakhi says — I love Elesh!

Now, Rakhi says — I love Elesh!

All this is a whole load of rubbish. Elesh and I are extremely happy and in love with each other,” starts off a fuming Rakhi. She goes on to add, “In fact, I met his entire family and will be going to Canada and be with him and his family soon. I definitely see a future with him.”

The report also went on to state that Rakhi was not over ex-boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi and still nurses a soft corner for him. “When the reporter asked me why I was warming up to my ex, I simply said that I have spent four years of my life with him and that is something you cannot forget easily. That in turn, was made out to be something else. I am totally over Abhishek,” she says.

So, when is the big day? Are Elesh and Rakhi going to tie the knot soon? Says Rakhi with a smile, “As of now, the two of us just want to spend time to get to know each other. Both of us have only met on the sets of the show and would like to spend more time understanding and being a part of each other’s lives. In fact, we plan to do another reality show soon.

Rakhi’s ultimatum to Elesh

Rakhi’s ultimatum to Elesh

But we guess, it was a little too much for even Rakhi to digest! So everyone was amused to see the item girl wearing a cleavage revealing golden outfit at another telly do. This time, with fiance Elesh Parujanwala in tow.

We don’t know if Elesh got a jhatka or not after seeing Rakhi in her real avatar, but we were definitely not surprised! And here’s some more dope.

We hear Rakhi, knowing Elesh’s love for junk food, has asked him to not add on any extra pounds after he goes back to Canada. We don’t know who should be giving ultimatums, Rakhi to Elesh about his eating habits or Elesh to Rakhi about her dressing habits!

Is Rakhi planning to dump Elesh?

Is Rakhi planning to dump Elesh?

Rakhi Ka Swayamwar achieved everything a television reality show would want. It had high TRPs, huge controversy and added to it a spice called Rakhi Sawant it could not have been any bigger on the small screen. But now questions are being raised whether the Rakhi's swayamwar was just another scripted reality shows aimed at garnering high TRP ratings and bountiful Ad revenue.

The script had it that Rakhi would not to tie knot with anyone at the end of the show and the winner would choose money over Rakhi with the item queen seeking public sympathy. All was going well till two ousted contestants revealed the plot. The producers wanting the show to look authentic came out with a unique solution of Rakhi getting engaged rather that tying the knot at the end.

Two weeks after the grand finale Rakhi Sawant has already started raising doubts over her fiancée Elesh Parujanwala. First she skipped his sister's wedding and then questioned his loyalty citing his multiple affairs in the past. She also said that she and Elesh weren't made for each other. Hang on Rakhi this is the same person you were going gaga praising just about 10 days ago.

Conspiracy theorists believe all that is happening is scripted. Rakhi never had plans to get married on the NDTV Imagine show Rakhi Ka Swayamwar and her raising doubts over Elesh is just another plot. They believe Rakhi and Elesh are heading for a high profile split which will save the face for Rakhi as well as NDTV Imagine.

Well with Rakhi around nothing is impossible.

Those are the big questions in India today (Sunday) as the finale of the reality TV series Rakhi Ka Swayamvar airs on NDTV Imagine.

Those are the big questions in India today (Sunday) as the finale of the reality TV series Rakhi Ka Swayamvar airs on NDTV Imagine.

Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant has revived the ancient Indian practice of swayamvar to select a suitable husband. She has whittled a field of 16 contestants down to three, and she will announce her decision on tonight’s broadcast, which airs at 9 p.m. in India.

Most fans of the show are convinced that Rakhi will choose Canadian businessman Elesh Parujanwala. But even if they are correct, some drama remains. No one, not even Rakhi herself, seems absolutely certain if she is going to go through with a marriage ceremony on the spot.

In ancient India, when the swayamvar competition was over, the bride married the selected groom immediately. Rakhi has gone back and forth in interviews on the subject, one day insisting she would marry and the next day insisting she wouldn’t.

“I’m not getting married, now,” she told the Times of India in her most recent pronouncement on the subject. “I’m selecting someone from the show to be my life partner. It’s more of an engagement.”

Just a couple of days earlier, reports were that Rakhi intended to get married today and even had her bridal outfit ready to go. One source said Rakhi was contractually obligated to get married in the show’s finale. However, reports in recent days have emerged suggesting that a way out had been formulated for Rakhi, with the man she selects given the option of choosing to marry her or walking away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Such conjectures can only serve to boost the ratings for the final show and, should Rakhi wind up not getting married this time, even possibly lead to a sequel.

I don't trust Elesh: Rakhi Sawant

I don't trust Elesh: Rakhi Sawant

The lady sure has a Midas touch when it comes to upping the TRPs with her antics, on and off the screen.

Barely a few days back, she had the unwavering attention of the tele buffs, as she went through the rigmarole of her much-publicised Swayamwar on NDTV Imagine. After much ado, she finally chose Elesh Parujanwala over 15 other candidates.

But then, Rakhi Sawant being the original drama queen, doesn't seem too content with this groom from Canada, who earlier seemed made-to-order for her. In a bindas chat with NT, the lady brazenly confesses that "I will wait and watch before taking the final call on wedding!"

Elesh has nothing’

Rakhi is aware that her critics have been making blistering remarks about her having wriggled out of marriage at the last minute on the reality show. Try reminding her of the criticism and she says, "They say Elesh's dad in Canada has lots of money. But, who will take the guarantee that I will be looked after? At the moment Elesh has nothing except his education.

He said he wanted to make a career in Mumbai and I agreed. Although I was disappointed to learn later that he is not as affluent as he projected himself to be. He stays in a rented flat in Kandivali in Mumbai along with his partner and he has at times been surviving on vada-paav! You can't accept me to stay in a rented flat!"

This is not the way a newly-engaged girl is supposed to feel. Where's that newfound glow, which usually surrounds the women in love? "Mere mann mein koi khushi nahin hai! I agree that Mumbai is a city, which gives everyone a chance. But, if Elesh doesn't settle down in one or two years, I will marry someone else," announces the item girl.

I’m not attending sis-in-law's wedding’

Interestingly, Rakhi has shelved her plans to go to Canada to attend Elesh's sister's wedding. Ask her the reason behind this omission and pat comes the reply, "I have another show lined up, where I will feature along with Elesh and a small baby. And I don't want to lose focus at this juncture, but Elesh is going to Canada." And what about her in-laws? Have they started pampering her with their love and care? "I couldn't even spend a day with them or even Elesh because of my various commitments," says the controversy queen in a dejected tone and adds, "In fact, I have accepted this new show, so that I can minutely observe Elesh. I want to know why did this man from Canada participate in my Swayamwar." But then, hadn't she already observed him for over a month during the reality show? "There were 16 contestants in all! I couldn't observe them all minutely in such a short span," says she scathingly.

Poor quality of suitors’

Now that she is not too happy with the turn of events, does she regret not having chosen Luv Khanna from Delhi, who expressed undying love for her? "He was so fake! We got so many letters wherein it was clearly mentioned that he had ruined the lives of many women. In fact, I had no idea that there will be such poor quality of suitors on the show where people like Manmohan, Krupal and Ashwin will turn up," says she.

But then, being a diehard optimist, Rakhi is now looking forward to her next film -Aditya Chopra's Haddippa - which will be released around Diwali. Perking up, she says, "I have my work and my Jesus! I know I will take the right decision at the right time!" This, surely, is not the last on her engagement drama! You can bet on that!

Don’t talk to me about Rakhi: Abhishek

Don’t talk to me about Rakhi: Abhishek

The choreographer-turned-actor has better things to talk about, he says. And, while Rakhi has said that she’s touched that he made it for her engagement, he denies ever going there. “I am busy with my shooting... I didn’t have time to go for the swayamvar,” says the ex-boyfriend.

But, he was invited, wasn’t he, as the grapevine suggests? “Yes, I was. But I don’t have time,” he says. And adds for good measure, “Mere paas in sab giri hui cheezon ke liye time nahin hai.”

For the record, Rakhi confessed recently that she hasn’t gotten over her old flame and that’s keeping her from moving on with fiancé Elesh Parujanwala. She said, “I am still carrying a huge amount of my past with me. He didn’t love me, but I did. I was left heartbroken, so naturally I’ll take my time to bring back the trust factor in a relationship.”

Rakhi says Elesh is not her man

Rakhi says Elesh is not her man

All doesn't seem to be well between Rakhi Sawant and Elesh Parujanwala. Just a week after the grand finale of Rakhi Ka Swayamwar she is already raising doubts on him and said they are not 'made for each other'. Rakhi said she hardly knew Elesh as they had dated only a couple of time after the show and her illiteracy clashed with her well educated fiancée. On a candid note she said she thinks Hindi and Elesh thinks English and there is a communication gap between them.

Rakhi is also sceptical about Elesh's flirty nature and the string of affair he had had in the past with none turning into a serious relationship and fears he might loose interest in her very soon. Rakhi said that she still hadn't got over her break up with Abhishek Awasthi and wasn't prepared for another one. Taking a dig at the contestants in her show Rakhi said most of them were cheapsters who participated for publicity which left her disillusioned about love.

Rakhi also revealed that she chats with Manas Katyal everyday as she got along quite well with him. Delivering a shocker of sorts the drama queen said she could have easily chosen Manas but the age difference between them prevented her from putting the garland around his neck. Well all this candid talk will certainly not please Elesh Parujanwala and his family. But it won't be a shock to know all that is happening now is scripted too!

I haven't got over Abhishek: Rakhi

I haven't got over Abhishek: Rakhi

She believes Canadian fiancé Elesh Parujanwala and she are not made for each other. In a shockingly candid interview, Rakhi revealed to Indiatimes Movies that it’s not just the obvious communication issues with Elesh, but her thinking and illiteracy that are clashing with her polished beau.

“I have met Elesh just twice after the show. Once we went out for a coffee and next when he came over to my house on Sunday for a party I had thrown for friends. I hardly know him well enough. How can I say he is the one for me?”, wonders Rakhi who has recently converted into Christianity.

“He’s a great human being but it doesn’t mean he’ll be good for me. Sometime, two good people may not make for a great couple. I am increasingly finding it difficult to take the plunge...,” she says unsure.

There are several issues, feels Rakhi for this mismatch. “I think in Hindi and he in English. I am yet to know what exactly is on his mind or why did he come to the show?,” she wondered aloud. Not that she is doubting his intentions totally, but there are some grey areas that have been bothering Rakhi.

“Elesh had a string of affairs, and none of them lasted more than a year. He also said he loses interest in women very quickly. It’s scary for me, especially after I have gone through a broken relationship. I don’t want to be heart broken again,” Rakhi says carefully. “Though Elesh says he loves me, I need my time to decide”.

It’s not that Rakhi isn’t making an attempt to bring in the romance. These days she’s only conversing in English so that she can chat with her English beau and his Canadian friends. This aside, the couple will be going on another reality show soon wherein Rakhi gets yet another opportunity to test her beau, this time locked inside a house for more than a month. However, Rakhi seems to be too nervous to sing `hum tum ek kaamre mein bandh hon’ with Elesh in the house.

“Frankly I’ve never been alone with Elesh so far,” she avers. So what’s scaring her is the unknown. We haven’t gone beyond holding hands. He is controlling himself. I have made it clear, whatever happens will be after marriage only. I may have a screen image, but I am very traditional at heart. Fair enough isn’t?” asks the bindaas babe in her quintessential style.

Meanwhile, it’s work that’s keeping her busy these days. She’ll be seen in Dil Bole Hadippa with Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee. Other than that, Meghna Gulzar’s 36-26-36 is Rakhi’s next film along with Jaya Bachchan. Moving up a notch higher in the filmy rung, it’s no wonder that Rakhi doesn’t want to give up everything at this point.

“My work is getting bigger in India. I cannot move out of here. If Elesh marries me, he has to buy a house here. I’ll not move to Canada”, she stands clear on this. There are also reports that Rakhi backed out of marriage in Swayamvar at the last minute, because she hasn’t gotten over her past flame Abhishek Awasthi! “I am still carrying a huge amount of my past with me. He didn’t love me, but I did. I was left heart broken, so naturally I’ll take my time to bring back the trust factor in a relationship. Moreover, the contestant who came for my show were such cheapsters, hungry for publicity that it left me disillusioned about love and men,” admits Rakhi who extended her Swayamvar invitation to Abhishek who failed to turn up.

Is she in touch with any of her suitors from the show? “Kshitij, Raman and Maanas. But it’s Maanas that I chat with everyday. We get along very well. I quite liked him, and could have chosen him, but there was a huge age difference between us,” she reveals.
Never mind Rakhi, que sera sera, whatever will happen will happen.

“Elesh’s education is clashing with my illiteracy...”

After Rakhi Sawant selected her groom on television’s most dramatic reality show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, Bollywood’s iconic item girl is now singing a different tune.

Rakhi Sawant gives a miss to sasural’s wedding

The much awaited decision of Rakhi Sawant on whether she would be attending the wedding of her sister-in-law Vrinda in Toronto or not, is finally out Well she at last opened her mouth about her absence from the shaadi.

“Everything was arranged, but at the last moment I and Elesh were selected to do the new reality show on Imagine- Pati Patni Aur Woh (Desi version of Baby Borrowers) and thus, I won’t be able to attend the wedding,” says Rakhi.

On that Elesh replied, “She has to do all the shopping before we enter the show, where both of us need to take care of the baby given to us. For the first time, I will get time to spend with her, beside that we will need lots of things in the house too.”

“I have to go for shopping, as the shoot of the same is taking place somewhere in North India. So Elesh and I decided that he will attend to his duty, while I will be busy shopping for the necessities that we will need during our stay in the reality show,” she converse.

They are not even sure of getting married. “This is the best time for us to test each other and decide whether we want to get married or not. Though we are planning to tie the knot, but this show will definitely decide our fate,” conclude the duo.

Rakhi ka drama aur kuch din chalne wala hai…So viewers get back to your TV sets as she will be coming soon with her better half.

Rakhi Sawant, fiance to play parents on TV show

Rakhi Sawant, fiance to play parents on TV show

It's barely a week since starlet Rakhi Sawant got engaged to Canada-based businessman Elesh Parujanwala in a televised 'swayamvar', but the two are now set to play mom and dad on the same TV channel.

Rakhi and Elesh, who met on the reality show "Rakhi Ka Swayamvar" on NDTV Imagine, will go through the challenging experience of parenthood on the new show "Pati, Patni Aur Woh". Four other celebrity couples will also participate in it.

Right from living the life of an eight-month pregnant woman to taking care of an infant, a toddler, a teenager - the show will see Rakhi doing it all. The format is inspired by international reality show "Baby Borrowers" and is being produced by BBC Worldwide Productions India.

With children participating, their real parents will be behind the scenes to monitor how the celebrity couples take care of them.

"With 'Pati, Patni Aur Woh', audiences will see these famous couples in real life situations and be part of their first journey into parenthood, sharing their joys, sorrows, trials and achievements.

"We believe that the show will not only resonate with all audiences and will also be a great fun experience for the younger generation that plans to start their own families in future," said Shailja Kejriwal, executive vice president (Content), NDTV Imagine.

The other couples participating are Shilpa Saklani-Apurva Agnihotri, Juhi Parmar-Sachin Shroff, Mouni Roy-Gaurav Chopra and onscreen couple Gurmeet Chaudhary-Debina Bonnerjee. They will spend an entire month in a closed environment, monitored by cameras 24X7.

Throughout the series the couples will also have to entertain relatives and guests, perform ceremonies, take part in other activities like parties and picnics and ensure that the kids finish their homework - all within a limited budget.

Its an Swayamvar for all Hindi GECs

Its an Swayamvar for all Hindi GECs

The slew of new programmes across Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) has offered a sumptuous treat to viewers, with the channels taking full advantage of this cricket-free period to bask in the limelight. Lintas Media Group (LMG) says that it was a Swayamvar everyday in which audiences select their program of choice and grace the channel with their viewership.

Programs like Sach Ka Saamna (Star Plus), Rakhi Ka Swayamvar (NDTV Imagine), Pavitra Rishta (Zee TV), Iss Jungle se Mujhe Bachao (Sony TV), India's Got Talent (Colors), are all so different in concept, but of equal strategic importance to their parent channels. Every GEC is now in a different stage in its marketing life-cycle, therefore expectations from each new program also differs and it's not about ratings alone.

In an e-mail interview to Televisionpoint.com, Premjeet Sodhi, chief planning officer, Lintas Media Group, says, "Less than 5 per cent of any launches succeed and hence while novelty of a new programme does attract initial viewership, these must be evaluated on more long term parameters."

Star Plus is struggling to retain its leadership position; Imagine wants new territories after being on the periphery of success for so long; Zee TV and Sony are trying to maintain their recent upsurge; and finally Colors must hold on to its rapid growth trajectory.

Opening day TVRs are reflective of viewer anticipation caused by the program's promotional activity. Sach Ka Saamna and Rakhi Ka Swayamvar were both eagerly awaited by the audiences, albeit for very different reasons, resulting in high opening TVRs.

Though these TVRs did fall over subsequent episodes, these two programs continued to perform well. With Rakhi Ka Swayamvar achieving the nearly impossible for NDTV Imagine in the final episode - the highest ever audience for a reality show, at 40 million viewers. Notable also are the high average TVRs delivered by Pavitra Rishta and India's Got Talent, the latter being the only show, whose average TVR has eventually crossed the opening TVR.

Sodhi adds, "Other than viewership ratings, it is imperative that the channels assess how the media property is strengthening their channel brand and offering opportunities for participation for advertiser brands to build value for all – the viewer, the channel and the advertiser."

Besides ratings, a program's performance can be judged by parameters like impact on overall channel performance; new viewers added to time band; channel share snatched from competition; viewership retained despite competitive pressures; strengthening viewership in weak markets and exciting a specific demographic segment not earlier on the channel.

Both Rakhi Ka Swayamvar and Sach ka Saamna attracted more male viewing, because of smart timing and shrewd casting – this contributed well to audience growth. Not only did Rakhi Ka Swayamvar deliver a 19 per cent growth in TVR's to NDTV Imagine, it also provided an increase of 96 per cent to the average ratings on that time band.

Sach Ka Saamna contributed a 180 per cent increase to the viewership of the 10 pm weekday band for Star Plus, besides helping to consolidate Star Plus's overall channel share by 25 per cent. Despite, or because of the controversy, a winning stroke from Star Plus.

Zee TV was struggling with a dying Kasam Se, which had dropped from a healthy 3.6 TVR to a sloppy 1.9. Pavitra Rishta helped pull its viewership back to 3.14, an increase of 65 per cent. On the other hand, the high action reality show, Iss Jungle se Mujhe Bachao raised TVRs by 55 per cent to cross the 1.0 barrier, for Sony Entertainment Television. More young people tuned in than before.

Maruti Suzuki's first foray into presenting sponsorship status on a GEC channel worked well. India's Got Talent on Colors raised the TVR on that time slot to 2.7 from the 1.6, an increase of 62 per cent. Unlike the other programs, which benefited from PR noise, this program offers consistently good content to generate a continuous growth in TVR's, not dependent on PR spikes.

In sum, each of the new programmes has proven to be a winner for its respective channel. While some brought brand new formats to India, others took the tried-and-tested route. While one courted controversy, another chose to romanticize tradition. While some may soon be forgotten, others will have gone on to establish the reality genre as a force to be reckoned with.

Just making some money, honey!

Just making some money, honey!

Would you do it?
Would you marry one out of 16 people you met just four weeks back after a whirlwind on-camera romance?
Would you pout, pirouette and flutter inch-long artificial eyelashes shrieking “where is the medias” because you want to tell them about bachelor parties you grew up dancing in, the swayamvar you’re having and how “its hurts, you know” when men use you as a ladder to Bollywood?
Would you answer uncomfortable questions about your bedroom fantasies with your wife and mother seated across?
Would you tell people if you ever did “susu in the swimming pool”?
Would you bathe in a bikini under an open waterfall while a camera whirs and faithfully transfers images to millions of voyeurs watching from the anonymity of their homes?
For a crore, or more, maybe you would.

Every evening, reality television (the new magic mantra of channels with sinking TRPs) is bringing to us shows that make us breathless with their audacity. There’s Sach ka Saamna on Star Plus where men answer questions like: “Do you think about another woman when you are intimate your wife” or “Are you secretly ashamed of your father”. There is Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao on Sony Television where a skimpily clad buxom Negar Khan bathes under a jungle waterfall and viewers frequently regurgitate dinners with visuals of Anaida eating ice creams garnished with giant cockroaches and earthworms. And last, but certainly not the least, there is, or rather, was, Rakhi ka Swayamvar where the crude, motor mouth item girl took the blood pressure of English language teachers and NDTV Imagine’s TRP ratings higher than ever before by her atrocious grammar and do-it-all-on-television attitude.

Celebs, we understand, do it for publicity and money, strictly in that order. But what about people like you and me who gasp at the programmes we watch and sometimes participate in as well but still continue to do so. Says microbiologist Neerja Sood, 43, “I don’t think shows like these should be promoted. They can only be bad for society. I’ve noticed all the time they try to evoke negative emotions like anger, jealousy, flirting, back biting for cheap publicity. Nothing positive is coming out of them.” And would she answer uncomfortable questions for prize money? “No, way,” she says. “Money is important but not so important that I stake my personal relationships for it.”

Mega-buck marriage
If rumour is to believed then Rakhi (when in doubt, pout) Sawant is a very rich girl at the end of the media circus titled Rakhi ka Swayamvar. Not only is she gaining a husband but also an incredibly fat cheque (Rs 4 crore, it is being said) for signing the contract that says she will marry one of the contestants and stay married for at least six months.

Funny that a channel that started off with Ramayan is depending upon Rakhi to save its soul. Well, yes, girls did marry for money, even in the olden days. But that was usually by tying the nuptial knot with a scion of some rich, respected dynasty. Not by holding a swayamvar on reality television, dating boys who sometimes “don’t even look as good as your driver”, dancing with them to romantic Hindi duets and even being kissed by the more adventurous ones.

“What’s wrong with that? I think she’s good entertainment. Everybody knew she was doing it for money and publicity and so were her suitors,” says civil engineer Manoj Kumar, 40, who watched avidly while the item girl interviewed and rejected prospective grooms in the past one month. If a reality show where money was being offered for daring tasks was offered to him, he says he would love to participate. “It’s a fun and easy way to make money,” he feels.

Schoolteacher Anjana Joshi, in her thirties, agrees. “I would not do Sach ka Saamna where unpleasant truths might affect my present relationships but if I could have had a swayamvar, I would have loved that. Of course, now it’s too late, I’m married,” she laughs. Though she would not participate she does find Sach ka Saamna interesting. “These kind of reality shows expose the darker side of our personality. Some like to participate, others like to watch. People enjoy these kind of things though they might not admit it. Though we do form very poor opinion of the celebs participating,” she says.

Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao is the Indian version of the popular British reality game show I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Sony Television has collected some whining B-grade celebrities to live in the synthetic jungles of Malaysia. They wade through ankle deep water in search for a box of chocolates and let snakes crawl on their bodies in exchange for dinner coupons. The easily forgettable star cast includes people like molestation-accused Aman Verma, ex-model Negar Khan, fading singer Anaida, Fiza (gone already) who came in the limelight because of her controversial nikaah with former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan; and somebody called Palak, a Roadies participant who has her own hate group on Facebook, and obviously aspires to be another Rakhi Sawant.

Unpleasant truth

Sach Ka Saamna is the Indian version of the immensely popular American game show, The Moment of Truth, which debuted on Fox network last year. After the grand success of the show, the format has already been replicated in as many as 23 countries, including the UK, Spain, Brazil, Germany, France and Italy. The answers given by the contestants are judged to be true or false by a polygraph machine that senses the anxiety and excitement levels of an individual, in order to determine whether a person is telling the truth. Facing a certain number of uncomfortable truths get you big money.

Understandably, as the prize money goes up, the questions asked get more personal.
Celebrities participating in the show include ex-cricketer Vinod Kambli, TV actress Urvashi Dholakia and TV-Bollywood artiste Bobby Darling. Common people also participate and vie for the prize money by facing their demons in public often at the cost of hurting people they love.

An easy way out

Are human values changing? And, distressing though the thought is, are we ready to do anything for money? “I have a feeling it has to do with it being an easy way to get fame, publicity and money. Otherwise in the normal world, and by the traditional route, you have to really struggle for these things. This maybe an easy way out. Also, yes, values are changing with every generation. So a generation or so ago, how you got fame and money was as important as getting it. Now, maybe how you get it is not so important, what is important is the fact that you get it! For example, earlier there used to be a stigma attached to people who made money through corruption. Today, it doesn’t seem to matter. The only thing that matters is the fact that you have money,” says counsellor Maullika Sharma who works with children and adults.

According to Keertan Adyanthaya, executive vice-president and general manager, STAR Plus, the core value of the show is based on the shining Indian principle of Satyameva Jayate (The Truth Alone Triumphs). “The programme will be a platform that values the courage exhibited by people, in accepting and sharing some pleasant and some not-so-pleasant truths about their lives,” he was quoted as saying.

What can one say to that, but “Balderdash and hogwash”. None of the celebs are doing it just to unburden themselves of some embarrassing untruths. Attach a polygraph machine to them if you must and ask them why they’re sitting in that chair. The answer is going to be: “I’m doing it for the money, honey!”

Swayamvar’ here, divorce elsewhere
While Rakhi Sawant found her soulmate on telly, elsewhere it was a divorce that kept the TRP ratings soaring.

American cable channel TLC never had it so good, thanks to Jon & Kate Plus 8, the big-brood reality show that has reinvigorated the once-ailing channel.
Recently on the show, Jon and Kate Gosselin, parents of eight children, confirmed to a record-breaking audience of 10.6 million TV viewers that they were separating after 10 years of marriage.

The episode aired the same day Kate Gosselin filed legal papers for divorce in the couple’s home state of Pennsylvania.

The Gosselins are famous for having twins and sextuplets, which made for a crowded house, and the show documented their family’s trials and triumphs as the kids grew up.
But their relationship had increasingly turned sour, and the Gosselins became fodder for celebrity press and paparazzi that speculated about extra-marital affairs in the weeks leading up to the breakup.

Gosselins said they would continue participating in the show — their main source of income — but separately.
Yes, the show must go on. After all, it’s about mega bucks.

Octuplets’ mother in $2,50,000 deal
In another part of the world, Nadya Suleman — the mother of octuplets who faced allegations of labour abuses in recent months — signed deals for each of her 14 children to earn $250 a day to star in a reality TV show.
According to The Guardian, the contracts filed at Los Angeles superior court guarantee that the children will collectively earn about $2,50,000 over three years.
The agreement with the European production company Eyeworks requires a judge’s approval. The show is scheduled to begin filming on September 1. Suleman’s children will collectively earn $1,25,000 for 36 days of shooting in the first year of production, $75,000 for 21 days in the second year and $50,000 for 14 days in the third year. Any extra shooting days will be compensated at the same rate.

Rakhi Sawant to wait for wedding bells to ring

Rakhi Sawant to wait for wedding bells to ring

Indian movie actor and reality shows star Rakhi Sawant who chose her life partner in an Indian reality show titled 'Rakhi ka Swayamvar' said on Monday that she would wait for the wedding bells to ring till her fiance Elesh Parujanwala is mentally prepared for the D-Day. She said this while interacting with the media persons in Mumbai.

After putting 16 young suitors to test, Rakhi Sawant chose a non-resident Indian businessman named Elesh Parujanwala as her groom before a large gathering of celebrities and television viewers who were hooked to the reality show.

Rakhi Sawant says she won't invite mother to wedding

Rakhi Sawant says she won't invite mother to wedding

Mumbai, Aug 4 (IANS) Sounding excited after her engagement to NRI businessman Elesh Parunjwala, item girl Rakhi Sawant says she wants all her friends, including ex-boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi, to attend her wedding but will not invite her mother.

'I completely forgive Abhishek Awasthi. I was very surprised to know that he showed up on Sunday for my scheduled wedding. Surprised and touched. If I knew, I'd have welcomed him. Yesterday, he was my boyfriend. Today, he's my friend,' Rakhi told IANS.

But she hasn't forgiven her mother.

'Please, all that nautanki on television for five minutes can't take away the pain I've gone through. As far as I'm concerned that chapter of my life is closed,' she said.

Eliminated contestants from the 'Rakhi Ka Swayamvar' reality show were among those who had showed up to wish the couple Sunday. But although a wedding was expected, Rakhi and Elesh only got engaged.

'I was all set to marry Elesh on Sunday. But it was Elesh who said he wanted more time to get to know me. I'm very confident of him. But if he needs more time to get to know me, how can I force myself on him? I'm ready to wait as long as he wants,' said Rakhi.

But although she is willing to wait for Elesh to make up his mind about the wedding, she doesn't want to shift base to Canada, where he runs a business.

'I'm completely sure Elesh is the man for me. But I do have a career in Mumbai. So he'll have to plan our future accordingly.'

They are planning to go to Toronto together for the wedding of Elesh's sister.

A baby for Mr & Mrs Rakhi Sawant!

The show will be the Indian version of the famous UK reality show, The Baby Borrowers. It’s been hard enough to digest their engagement, but thrusting real babies and senior citizens into their care is a truly terrifying idea.

While Shilpa and Apurva Agnihotri, Juhi and Sachin Shroff, Mouni Roy and Gaurav Chopra are the other couples, the fifth couple is yet to be finalised. As per the concept of the original show, the five couples will have to literally grow up by setting up a home, getting a job and becoming caring parents to babies, toddlers, pre-teens having pets, teenagers and take care of senior citizens all within the time span of three weeks.

Our source said, “Rakhi Ka Swayamvar increased the TRP of the channel and they wanted to follow it up with something equally huge. This is perhaps their best kept secret. That’s the reason they have signed on all the big couples from the TV industry. The format of the show is very interesting.”

The channel was also keen to have Rakhi and Elesh as this would be the perfect platform for them to prove their compatibility. The show will be shot this month in Jaipur.

Shailja Kejriwal, Executive VP (content) of the channel said, “We are working on two or three formats currently and everything will be finalised only by the weekend. We have been extremely busy with Rakhi Ka Swayamvar and now that it’s over, we are yet to decide which format to go ahead with.”

Commenting on Rakhi and Elesh being part of the show, she said, “We have something in mind for them, but like I said, we would be in a better position to talk about it by next week.”

Toronto-born Elesh Parujanwala and Bollywood bombshell Rakhi Sawant are engaged to be married, following Sunday's finale of reality TV show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, India's answer to The Bachelorette.

"It feels damn amazing, to tell you the truth!" Parujanwala said from Mumbai in an email to the Star. "Sometimes you never know what life has in store for you, and I never would have imagined that I'd be meeting my life partner in such a fairy-tale manner."

The engagement came on the heels of false reports in the Indian news media last week that Parujanwala had already been declared the show's winner. The reports were published just hours before a defiant Sawant told the Times of India she had no intention of marrying, despite promises otherwise from the show's producers.

As usual, Parujanwala played it cool – his strategy from the very beginning.

"(At the start of the show) I just wanted to observe and see what the situation was with the rest of the contestants and Rakhi," he said.

"It wasn't until the show was well on its way and I had an off-camera conversation with Rakhi (that) I was convinced this wasn't just a show for her, (that) she was really looking for a life partner."

The game was afoot.

By the time he was done, Parujanwala had outwitted, outplayed and outcharmed 15 contestants, despite the fact that he was barely able to speak Hindi.

The 30-year-old has spent most of his life in the GTA, where he attended the University of Toronto and worked for the family wholesale business.

He moved to Mumbai in November, where he co-founded the Keon International Film Academy.

Sunday's finale, which aired for almost 2 1/2 hours, was broadcast live from the five-star Hotel Leela Kempinski in Mumbai.

Almost 16 million viewers tuned in, making it India's most-watched reality TV show finale of 2009, according to Indian newspaper the Business Standard.

The couple exchanged promises, if not quite vows, from a glittering stage.

"I'll never walk in front of you or behind you, but always beside you," Parujanwala told his fiancée in English. "I'll always be honest, truthful and loyal. And if you didn't already know, I love you."

"I love you, too," Sawant said in English, before switching to Hindi.

"We (could) get married here right now," she said, "but we need some time."

Meanwhile, Parujanwala has another wedding to attend. His younger sister Vrinda is getting married in Toronto on Aug. 16, leaving him 10 days to arrange a visa for his fiancée.

"I have plans to show her my life and my lifestyle, my entire family and friends. There are a ton of things for us to do, but I know the first stop," he said.

"Niagara Falls – the Canadian side, obviously."

After Rakhi's swayamvar, its Rahul's swayamvadhu

After Rakhi's swayamvar, its Rahul's swayamvadhu

The overwhelming response from the audience to Rakhi Ka Swayamvar has meant that NDTV Imagine is in no mood to discontinue with the concept. Sources inside the channel tell us that the channel bosses are working out of another show featuring Rahul Mahajan the son of late politician Pramod Mahajan. Rahul is no stranger to controversies and will serves as the perfect replacement for Rakhi.

The show is likely to retain the same format and will be known as Rahul Ka Swayamvadhu. Rahul Mahajan soared the TRPs when he had appeared on the reality show Big Boss 2 last year. He is known to be a ladies’ man who had a failed marriage with long time girlfriend Shweta Singh. He had also been linked to Payal Rohatgi and Monica Bedi during their stay at the Bigg Boss house.

The Channel is however tight lipped about the show although Rahul Mahajan has made multiple trips to their office. When quizzed about Rahul's visit the channel maintained that he had come for some personal work. Rahul Mahajan too isn't willing to reveal any details about the show and candidly denied having any knowledge about it.

Rakhi Ka Swayamwar rocks foreign coasts

Rakhi Ka Swayamwar rocks foreign coasts

Mumbai: After celebrating ‘Swayamwar' and soon to be a daughter-in-law of Canada based family, Rakhi Sawant has taken the Indian rituals to the shore of the country where she is soon going to settle as Mrs. Parujanwala.

Rakhi has chosen Elesh Parujanwala, a Canadian industrialist of Indian origin to be her life partner in the show “'Rakhi Ka Swayamwar'.

Former official of Canadian human rights Dr. Bahusaheb Ubale has conveyed that the programme ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamwar' has created much of an awareness of Indian culture in this part of the world and has presented a new face of Indian woman.

He further added that opting for television to be the medium of her obsession of best groom was a different concept to go ahead with and Rakhi is the first girl to do so. More of such programs should be telecast in order to promote the Indian culture.

Don't compare me with Rakhi Sawant, says Ramya

Finally, Rakhi Sawant has achieved what she dreamed of. She has found Elesh Parujanwala as her life partner. Even NDTV Imagine is successful in getting record breaking TRP rating. Meanwhile, Kannada actresses like Ramya, Pragna and Shubha Poonja have said that although the show 'Rakhi Ka Swayamvar' was a good entertainer, Rakhi should not made her marriage a public affair. It is clearly a publicity stunt.

Recently, Ramya, Pragna and Shubha Poonja were asked about their opinion about the show and whether they also like to hold such Swayamvars.

In reply, Shubha Poonja said, “I’ve watched all the episodes of the show 'Rakhi Ka Swayamvar' and enjoyed them very much. In my opinion, it may be a swayamvar or arranged marriage; it should be strictly a private affair. It should not be shown to the whole world like Rakhi. I don’t like the world witness my marriage like this.”

Golden girl Ramya requested not to compare her with Rakhi. She said, “For the past one month, NDTV Imagine was broadcasting the episodes of 'Rakhi Ka Swayamvar' throughout the day. Though I have not watched full episodes, I’ve enjoyed small sequences of the show. It was really a good entertainment. But I don’t like to participate in any such show. Please don’t compare me with Rakhi Sawant.”

Talking about the show actress Pragna said, “Rakhi ka Swayamvar is a good entertainment programme by NDTV Imagine. But I would never participate in such show. I think it’s highly impossible for me to do that. I would never imagine such a thing in my life.”

However, Rakhi has chosen Elesh, a Toronto based business, as her life partner, but it is not clear whether she will marry him or not. Her statements have raised many speculations. Over all, one thing has become clear that the 'Rakhi Ka Swayamvar' was a scripted drama, which was a publicity stunt for both Rakhi and NDTV Imagine. Both are successful in achieving their goal.

Rakhi wants a second swayamvar

Rakhi wants a second swayamvar

If you thought Rakhi Ka Swayamvar on NDTV Imagine was a drama, Rakhi Sawant had preserved her best for the grand finale. The live telecast of her swayamvar seemed it would never end as the drama queen did all the possible nakhras and nautankis. Elesh Parujanwala, Manas Katyal and Chittiz Jain seemed like cattle waiting for their buyer.

At one instance when she was quizzed about whom she would get engaged to Rakhi jokingly said she wanted a 'second swayamvar'. The audience burst out in laughter but the three would be grooms held their breathe. With Rakhi in the driving seat anything was possible. It may be recalled that she had walked out of Nach Baliye 3 after she lost in the finals.

Rakhi finally put the garland around Elesh's neck and exchanged rings with him. The drama queen who had promised to get married by the end of the show has settled for just an engagement. The reason well she wants to know her would be life partner off the camera. Since Rakhi's isn't married NDTV Imagine might just have enough ideas to script a Rakhi Ka Swayamvar season two.
